Online Accompaniment in Artistic Research

Accompaniment in online artistic research is a group that proposes to encourage the development and reflection of the practices of visual artists. Mediated by researcher and curator Allan Yzumizawa, in this series of meetings, the resolutions of individual works will be developed and discussed collectively, as well as their pertinent questions through texts, conversations and references from other artists.

The two-hour (2h) weekly meetings are composed of discussions of texts suggested by the bibliography (or as demands and indications arise during the meetings) and the follow-up of the individual work processes and, at the end of the follow-up, an exhibition will be developed in the Alê Espaço de Arte with the projects developed during the follow-up. In this way, the active participation of the artists is essential, as well as the weekly feedback to bring new productions to the continuity of the works.

About the advisor

Allan Yzumizawa (1993, São Paulo), lives and works in Sorocaba. He is a researcher of culture and contemporary art and member of the Asia Art Study Group (GEAA – USP / UNIFESP). He works as a curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Sorocaba (MACS). PhD in Art History from UNIFESP, Master in Visual Arts from PPGAV-UNICAMP and BA in Visual Arts from UNICAMP. Among the main projects as a curator, the following stand out: Corpos da Água Vermelha (Proac Prize 2021), “The invention of the hero”, MAC Sorocaba-SP (2022), “The encounter is an impossible place”, Centro Cultural dos Correios, São Paulo-SP (2022) and “Exercício Ka’a”, Paço das Artes, São Paulo-SP (2023). He is interested in contemporary art productions displaced from hegemonic centers and in regional cultural manifestations in Brazil and their relations with postcolonial theories.
